What the Future of Toyota's Hybrid and Electric Vehicles Might Look Like

    Last updated 5 years ago

Toyota is among the oldest automobile manufacturers and has become one of the biggest global identities in the industry. Toyota has seen the industry grow, and often lead the world in the field of automotive technology and innovation. It takes a great level of commitment to stay at the front of any industry, especially a technology-driven one, and Toyota engineers never stop coming up with new ideas for the future. Explore the following concepts for Toyota vehicles and see what the company thinks the future may look like for the automobile industry.

    FT-CH

Toyota is well known for their class-leading Prius. However, they wanted to design a vehicle that was lighter, more nimble, offered higher fuel economy, and was within the price-range of first-time and younger buyers. The FT-CH offers all these attributes, and still allows for maximum comfort and space. Although it’s not certain that the prototype which debuted at the 2010 North American International Auto Show will come into production, it is very likely that a similar vehicle will find its way into the market at some point.

    FT-EV

The FT-EV debuted at an American auto show in 2009 at the same time as the new Prius was being released. The small car is a completely electric vehicle which offers a super-efficient means of travel for people who don’t require traveling distances much further than 50 miles at a time. Japan and Europe have seen a production vehicle based on the same platform, and the FT-EV may find its way into America cities at some point as well.

    FT-HS

Hybrids and sports cars are two ideas that aren’t usually connected, but the FT-HS concept does just that. The aim of the vehicle is to offer luxury, high performance, and outstanding efficiency.

    Hybrid X

On a contrasting note, the Hybrid X concept is an example of what Toyota believes the future of hybrid vehicles may very well be. Smooth aerodynamic shape and design offer true functionality, while setting the vehicle apart from regular gasoline-powered automobiles.

    • Very friendly, honest and informative car salesmen at this location. Compared to NADA price, they're a little high, but they do offer some great coverages and warranties which helped balance it out.
